A terrific, creative brillant man has passed. I hope that his friends and relatives know what he and his work meant to us; and that they have a way of reading our tributes and honors to him. May he rest in peace.

I woke up this morning to a different world. Carl Macek, Father of Robotech and a source of Inspiration, is gone. I've been sitting here at my desk trying to find the right words to describe how I'm feeling. The only things I can think of are selfish thoughts really. I mean my most sincere and heart felt condolences go out to Svea and all his family and close friends... but I can't help but think of what I've lost as well.
Robotech came to me at a critical time as a kid. For many it was a time where a kid make a decision to start to grow up and lose that creative spark inside and move on to other things, or to keep that spark and nurture it. That's what Carl brought to me. He gave me something that forever changed my life. As a Robotech fan Carl was My Gene Roddenberry, he was my George Lucas but apart from that he was one of my mentors. He brought me a whole new world that to this day I still visit.
Like the world, Robotech will move on without Carl, but I suspect that like the world I woke up to this morning, it will be different. There will be a different feel, something that you can’t really see but you just know. It’s hard to put into words exactly what I’m feeling inside. I suppose the numbness will go away and the emotion will take over.
Thank you Carl for being there for an awkward little kid from Texas, and Thank you for bring me Robotech.
I’ll leave you all today with these words from Billy Dean, It’s a country song titled “Once in a while”
Once in a while, someone comes along.
That one in a million heart,
So pure and so strong.
They can face up to the tears.
And somehow still find a smile,
That we only get ev'ry once in a while.
Once in a while, someone has the eyes,
That one in a million look,
That never tells lies.
They can get you on your feet,
To walk that extra mile.
We only see ev'ry once in a while.
That's why we call them heroes.
That's why we know their names,
And once you've heard their stories,
You're never quite the same.
That's why we call them heroes.
The best thing they ever do,
Is to point to the best in us all,
And say: "If I can, you can too."
Once in a while, I still hear his voice.
That one in a million sound,
Like two laughin' boys.
He would hate it if we cried,
That never was his style.
Oh, we still miss him ev'ry once in a while.
Ohh.
They can face up to the tears.
And somehow still find a smile,
That we only get ev'ry once in a while.
Oh, how I miss him ev'ry once in a while.

That fan tribute is outstanding, UEG...
This is one of those times where you lament never getting the chance to meet someone whom you have a lot of respect for (that is attainable)...I was really looking forward to meeting Carl Macek at ComiCon, this year. While I have Zormaster to thank for the autographed postcard I got at NDK last year, I still wanted very much to thank him in person...
Damn, what a loss...
RIP, Carl.

Carl Macek helped really bring anime to the US. I would race home from school everyday to catch an episode of ROBOTECH. Years later when the DVDs came out I introduced the series to my wife and eventually my son. This is indeed a sad day for anime and ROBOTECH fans. My condolences go out to his family.

This is sad on two fronts. On the one hand, I wish his close friends and family well, dealing with loss suck, trust me.
On the other hand, I was starting to have hope, with him rejoining the Robotech team. I was really hoping he would set HG and Tommy straight and get Robotech back on track.
RIP Carl.

This came as such a shock to me. And so young, too....
Thanks for the memories, Carl.
