Animation historian Jerry Beck reported on his blog on Sunday that American producer Carl Macek passed away due to a heart attack on Saturday. Macek and Beck had co-founded Streamline Pictures in 1988.
Macek is best known for producing Robotech, the redubbed and edited adaptation of three different anime series — Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada. He also worked on the dubbing of many anime projects from Captain Harlock and the Queen of a Thousand Years (redubbed and edited adaptation of Captain Harlock and Queen Millennia) to more recently, Bleach and Naruto.

Horrible news.
Just as he was getting back, rest in peace.

This is terrible news, I'm actually in tears right now over this.
This was the man who brought us Robotech
He didn't create the original animation, but he did create the story which combined them to make Robotech what it is.
and without him, there would have been no Robotech, no fandom at all.
I didn't discover the series until 1997 and I became obsessed, wanting to know more. Finding out that this man was the brains behind it, I deeply respected him, and always will. Robotech became very special to me, and I still love it. I still go through all the artbooks and skim through the comics I have. I was even inspired by this man to create my own series whom I will dedicate to from this day on.
Carl you will be dearly missed, and it saddens me to know that we will never meet. That I can never show you what you inspired me to create. I'll miss you so, we all will
Thank you for bringing us Robotech, we love you carl, and we'll never forget you.
Rest in peace

Although I've been more of a Macross fan than Robotech the last few years I have to say that if it weren't for Carl and Robotech I would never have become interested in anime to begin with. Thanks for the memories Carl...

Rest in Peace Carl.....
Because of you a legion of fans were introduced to something special....
No matter the discourse....the crazy happenings that go on at this moment, back in 1985 you had magic in a bottle and you gave it to the world...and speaking for myself, I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL. Without you, The Protoculture Times would not exist.
The best part about it is that the whole intent of Robotech....was to entertain us.
You succeeded my friend.
I will miss you.....
