Now I am almost glad I never peeked into M7 after all.Good anime graphics but people flying with guitars is enuf to turn me away.

Honestly, I think Mac7's a bit of a turkey, but there are many Mac7 fans out there...

Just goes to show that opinions vary widely.

Not really, no. The first three episodes were enough to turn me off...

Perhaps, one of these days, I'll give it another try, but that is a long way off.

Too distracted by Sheryl, right now.

Oh yes the basterd Macross 7. I hated it in the beginning as well. But much like things you end up liking, it grew on me. I only endured it to catch a glimpse of Max and Miriya. Then as it progressed got interested. I just fast-forwarded "Planet Dance."

To this day, its still stuck on in my head.

I watched the entire series and the follow-on movies/ova's and I still to this day think its not my cup of tea. To each their own, but I find it funny people who call me stupid for liking Southern Cross yet love Macross 7. Nothing says 'Fanatic' more than 'That crap you watch suxxors' while watching something that has the exact same level of 'stupidity'. Whenever I hear about 'stupid magical flowers and armored vehicles with no covered driver's station', I love to point to 'stupid magical singing girls and guitar-controlled high performance variable fighters'. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

As for Frontier, I watched the whole series. I will give it props for being beautifully animated, but I found the story (and the fan service) to be as equally vapid as that of The Shadow Chronicles.

When I was checking online I saw a series of Mac7 for well over $150.00 if I recall, and the other day it was sold. From the youtube clips and info from Seto I learned to completly avoid Mac7.

brooklyn redleg

but I find it funny people who call me stupid for liking Southern Cross

Nothing really wrong with liking Robotech Masters Southern Cross but the only stupidity is from people who like fat bag commander leonard and try to make him such a nice guy and so misunderstood and Southern Cross mechas are so over rated.

Almost done with my 3 view of Macross Frontier and I forgot if I asked this but I want to ask again: Why does Ranka keep singing "Aimo Aimo" song? is it the lyrics from that only song that activate her fold wave?

Because I heard M Frontier had plenty of songs lined up (like Mac7) but only used a handful of songs in Frontier.

Never said anything about making him 'a nice guy'. Greg Finley even stated that he voiced him as a 'tough no-nonsense military man'. Misunderstood, yes, I think he is given that people use a sliding scale of how they judge him. He follows the orders of the duly elected Prime Minister, which is to prosecute the war Earth had thrust upon it by The Masters.

Southern Cross mechas are so over rated.

Funny, I generally find Macross mecha to be highly overrated, especially the VF-1 Valkyrie with all kinds of supposed advantages it has when its purpose-built to be an Interceptor, not a Dog-fighter and most certainly not an Air Superiority Fighter.

You kind of contradict your point here because if something is made to intercept then it must engage in a dog fight to maintain air superiority.Too bad those AJAXs and other "air mechas" in southern cross was made with aluminum foil.

Just waiting for you to say something like "A hover tank can take out a Vajra"!

As for your defence on fat bag leonard, about being misunderstood,,Gee I guess Emperor Palpatine,Hitler,Imhotep and Osama were misunderstood too and they got their fans so no wonder or shock people worship and admire a waste like leonard.

Uh... sorry, sir. This is completely inaccurate.

Interceptors, by and large, are purpose-built platforms that are meant to engage at long range. Some real-world examples would be the F-4 Phantom 2, and the F-14 Tomcat. Neither of these aircraft were intentionally meant to dogfight.

Now, with that being said, the F-4 Phantom was amazingly usefull as a dogfighter, even though it wasn't originally built with a gun. The governing forces of Strategic thinking, at the time, thought that a gun was outmoded, in the age of supersonic jets and nuclear weapons.

WEll, as it turned out, they were wrong.

Now, let's get to another point...

Where did you get that idea?

Okay, so the VF-1 takes certain design elements from the F-14 Tomcat. That's plain to see. But there's absolutely no indication that it's simply built as an interceptor.

What would be the point of a variable fighter that simply acted as a long-range interceptor? Why have Gerwalk or Battroid modes at all?

Sorry, dude. It doesn't fly. The VF-1 was a multi-role fighter with the intended purpose being air-superiority.

So, with that... let's move on.

I'm not aware of any Minmay doll in Frontier, but I'll check into it.

There's a scene in the episode titled 'Northern Cross', though, where Ozma finds a Ranka doll, that looks remarkably similar to the Minmay dolls seen in SDF-Macross.

Other than that, there's only a few passing references to Minmay. Also, Richard Bilra kept a locket with Minmay's picture in it, apparently intent on finding Minmay once his quest to develop a no-time-dilation fold-system was complete.

Obviosuly, I'm gonna have to disagree. Frontier will certainly never be mistaken for for a Bergman film, but it did have some genuine IDEAS in it, which is more than I can say for Shadow Chronicles. Also the characters in Frontier got a lot more depth than anyone in Shadow Chronicles, but that's to be expected, since it's a lot longer. But even from the beginning, the Frontier characters exhibited actual personalities. Shadow Chronicles' characters didn't.
