REASON WHEN I ASKED THEM AT COMIC CON WAS THE MARKET DEMAND IS VERY SLOW RIGHT NOW. THERE THE COLLECTORS OUT THERE BUT NOT ENOUGH TO PROCESS A BATCH. SO THEY BEING CAREFULL.Toynami isn't like say Hasbro, they put out a very limited line of overpriced Robotech toys (and their OSM counterparts) one at a time (or in mini-sets) with some trinkets thrown into the schedule from time to time.
STORY DEVELOPMENT AND TOY MAKING ARE TWO DIFFERENT ANIMALS.As for my claim that Tommy micromanages their licensees, just look to Palladium's current Robotech RPG line.
AH. NICE TO KNOW. AND YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE LINE. I DON'T THINK I EVER SAW THE KITS AFTERWARDS.Actually, Revell's "Robotech Defender" kits predated the tv series by about a year. IINM, the only deal between HG and Revell was for the name "Robotech", and to limit the RD comic to only two issues although that may have had more to do with it not making money more than any deal. I was under the impression Revell discontinued the RD line once their on hands were sold out.
@ SAVE, KUDOS WITH WHAT RTSURFER SAID.
AND I HAVE NOT BOUGHT THEM EITHER. NEW THINGS ALWAYS COME UP.

Sometime after Robotech showed up on US TV (summer of '85? Maybe?) I do remember seeing a Revell Robotech kit of the SDF-1 (a repackage of the Arii 1/5000 kit). So I think they capitalized a little bit on the show...but yeah, not much.RTSURFER

The also released some of the 1/144 Macross kits, and generally packaged two to a box...but I can't remember if those came out before or after the show aired.

Revell Robotech Space Fortress SDF-1 Model Kit
The model builds up into a spacecraft that measures 9 & ½ inches in length. (The kit is listed as a 1/5000 scale of the actual SDF-1). This kit is out of production.
Whoa...I didn't even realize they released the cruiser mode...I was talking about the transformed version...
Which, naturally, I can't seem to find any pics of.

I've got a few of these kits... I'd be nice if they would reissue these kits.. They cost so much now if you find one on ebay..
OH and Cool8or has a nice collection of built kits. You can check it out here:

I've got a nice collection of built and unbuilt kits.. Some hard to find stuff too...

The Japanese ones have been reissued, I think... The funny thing is that the 1/8000 SDF-1 ("Storm Attacker Construction") by Imai was a much, MUCH better kit than the 1/5000 version (by Arii, and reissued by Revell). Hell, the "elbows" didn't even bend on the Arii kit...Gubaba wrote:

Oh yeah definately. I keep several Unbuilt 1:8000 scale by Bandai on hand and the level of detail and accuracy is far better then that of the old ARII mold.
The Elbo area of the 1:5000 kit is one of the pieces most customizers hit first when working on the "attack" version. There are other areas of the 1:5000 "attack" kit that can use some work too....
I'm going to do a write up for the model guys of some upgrades for the 1:5000 "Attack" version this weekend. I'll post them in the "Robotech Modeler's Resource Center" Thread.
