HG BY ITSELF CAN NOT BRING SOME OF THE GUYS TO THE TABLE. AND NOT ENOUGH TO PULL SOME OF THE COMPANY'S AWAY TO RISK LICENSES FROM BW. EVEN IF HG OFFERS WORLD WIDE RIGHTS. FIGURE MW FANS ARE.. EASY ENOUGH TO SELL ON, TO GET THEM PAY FOR THE HIGH IMPORTS, THE COMPANY'S OR BW DON'T SUFFER A CRUNCH ON THEIR POCKET BOOKS.
BUT NOW HG HAS WB. AND THAT COULD MAKE SOME TOY COMPANY'S ITCHY TO CROSS THE LINE.
A GREAT GAMBLE. WILL IT PAY OFF?

TRUE.WB or any Hollywood studio really doesn't have anything to do with the domestic Japanese merchandise market. You have no idea how minimal Hollywood films are in Japan. Unless RTLAM is directed by Cameron or staring Johnny Depp it will pretty much be a low ticket seller like Dark Night and Iron Man. I would let up on the WB card a bit, until something actually gets made.
JUST THAT IT WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE TO JUMP SHIP AND GET AN EARLY LEAD. GET AHEAD OF THE GAME BEFORE OTHER COMPANY'S TRY TO GET THERE FIRST.

Judging by how quickly BW pulled the plug on Macross 7 Trash, I'd suspect as soon as they get wind of it (if it's indeed true - always a question with HG staffers), licensing contracts will be canceled...MEMO,
I checked out the Podcast, well hey that is good news for you guys State side. Still I would imagine it may effect Kaiyodo with further licenses but that would just be pure speculation on my part. Still I talked to some toy company guys here and they first scratched their heads then also speculated the same thing. Let's hope for the best.

Actually a friend and I looked into the whole Macross 7 Trash thing and BW has no record of anybody trying to bring it over to the US. BW had nothing to do with it not being published.

It was HG who killed the deal because the publisher was scared off by threat of legal action. Why, is beyond me. It didn't fall under HG's rights anyway...
If I recall correctly this deal was prior to HG securing the trademark on "Macross" in 2003.

SPECULATION.
PRETTY MUCH IF NOT HG, TATSU WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WITH THEIR SIDE OF THINGS.
BW IS NOT GOING TO OPEN THE DOOR TO WHAT THEY ALLOW OR DONT ALLOW. NOW LOOK INTO THE PUBLISHER AND SEE WHERE THAT LEADS. THEY THE ONES WHO WOULD BE HOLDING THE RIGHTS. AND MAYBE A SAY IN WHY THEY CHANGED THEIR MIND OR EVEN TRY TO WORK A DEAL.
