I wouldn't be so quick to take his word at 100% face value. For example, I'm sure they are interested in bring over all the cool toys and books over from Japan, but what does BW/SN, or any of the creators get out of it? Tommy said the publisher pulled out, but fails to mention anything about the creators having anything to do with the deal. That's probably cause they may have been trying to go around them, and when caught with their hand in the jar, they got nothing. While I'm not the biggest fan of the manga, or even all of Macross by any stretch, one thing I've learned in sitting in numerous court cases is that there will ALWAYS be a second side of the story. Truth is based on one's perception of it, and that's HG's perception of the truth. That's why I don't mind seeing "naysayers" ask hard questions. It means that they're fact gatherers, and not just willing to be molded into what someone else wants.

HG should welcome that, too, but so far, it doesn't seem like a good fit for them.

The argument you are presenting doesn't harden, or validate your case. If the other side doesn't talk, that doesn't mean the side that is talking is truer than the other. The idea that the other party spoke on this sometime ago, then decided to take down their comments and not put up more doesn't say anything new, only that they didn't have reason to keep it up.

In regards to other toy companies dealing, that talks of their deals, not of the publishing fiasco. These contracts and deals are not a "one size fits all" for all merchandise, and not even like that within the same genre of merchandise within the same company. Speculation is not out, it's what so far, can only be given with the facts at hand.

Finally, my point isn't my problem, it's yours. Because the "other side" isn't talking, you're left with only half the facts to confirm or deny with. That's all there is here. The burden of proof here is on you, and like I said, with only half the facts to confirm or deny, it's heresay.

I'm glad Macross imports are available in the US, its just too bad we don't have a free market with variety and choices.

Since MEMO likes to talk about facts, here are some of them from the business world.

1.- All businesses are there for profit.
2.- No business will agree to a any kind of deal if is not beneficial to their bottom line.

Taking these two facts in consideration we can all agree that Big West will not accept any deal from any company if it hinders their bottom line (meaning profit).

HG can talk all they want in conventions, they can put the blame on the BW all they want to; but at the end of the day, if the deal does not benefit BW in any way, they will simply say no.
We can never expect HG to provide any details of their proposed deals with another companies but based on the two facts.

Sometimes, is ironic how the copyright, patent and trademark system works in the US where you can have a company like HG, technically squatting on Macross just to get a piece of the pie on products that they are not even entitle to (and with this, i'm referring to products from Macross II, Macross Plus, Macross 7; Macross Zero and Macross Frontier).

Interesting... MEMO can link to and comment on HG's stance concerning the issue but if someone ask for BW's position it suddenly becomes a legal issue and he points to cannon fodder. This after he had already ask for BW's side/statement earlier in this same thread:
