Japan makes great movies but they should not try to make their own live action movies for their anime.
There is a Cutie Honey tv show here, cute babes but the show is sooooo cheesy. And they have been making a lot of manga and anime into tv shows and movies here and they suck hard.
So I think that a good Hollywood director and a good Japanese/American design team and story writers would be better at making anime into live action.

If you've been keeping up with American cinema during your stay in Japan, you'll know the ones made here are every bit as bad as the ones made there... but usually don't do nearly as well financially. Speed Racer and Dragonball Evolution did quite poorly at the box office. Here's one thing about Japanese live action anime movies. They suck!! Even my Japanese friends here in Japan agree that they suck.

Yeah... but again, how is that different from here? You've seen Transformers.Japan makes great movies but they should not try to make their own live action movies for their anime.

Writing seems to be a lost art in Hollywood these days, and even the best director isn't going to be able to do much for a crap script. With Millar, Gough, and Smith on the job, I can't see the Robotech script being anything BUT crap. To make matters worse, finding a good director in Hollywood is harder than finding an honest politician. The Japanese design team is probably the easiest to secure, but past performance has shown that may not be a good idea, as the language barrier and differences in experience have made such endeavors particularly troublesome in the past (ex. Robotech II: the Sentinels).

There are Americans who go to Anime school here now too.
The studios are aware of how big Anime is in America. Look at Miyazaki.
It can be done if people get off of their tush and try.

Whatever happens I`ll go & see the LAM & here`s hoping it`s a well worth visit when it happens.
As for the Macross Frontier mentioned earlier,Now that was friggin awesome & does indeed show Macross is has kicked up the gameplay for RT to follow.
Just such ashame on the Legal issues of International rights.
As I`m in Britain I am annoyed sometimes at HG for their lack of International touch (concentrating moreso on the US ) & that they went & closed Macross releases off to us. Personally if they cannot play together & HG is more bothered about it`s US fandom, well they should do the decent thing & lift the EU,rest of the world Macross rights,so all those outside the US CAN ENJOY BOTH Franchises properly. HG for US (well that`s how they make it look & feel tbh),BW The rest of the World. A fair set up in my book.

A lot has changed since then. There are more Japanese who speak English in the field now.

You're overstating things a bit... much of the mainstream American film industry still considers anime a fad. While there are more Japanese who can speak passable English now, the odds of Warner calling in a Japanese company are still virtually zero. After all, they'll have studied all of the production history of Robotech, and seen how using Japanese studios caused more setbacks than anything else because Robotech is a literal nonentity over there. That's not even talking about any potential legal issues that could arise over the movie.A lot has changed since then. There are more Japanese who speak English in the field now.

No, I suspect Warner will try to keep Robotech an all-American production... if they even make it at all. By the time they're done picking their noses and giving each other piggyback rides and get down to work, the 80's revival fad'll be over and there'll be no market for the movie.

TIME WARNER.
That company's set the gold standard for intransigence.

You DO realize that what you're saying essentially boils down to "HERE IS A THREAD YOU SHOULD NOT POST IN", right? It's a taboo topic on there, I've been threatened by multiple mods for posting the facts.THERE IS A LEGAL THREAD IN THE PRODUCTION FORUM OF ROBOTECH.COM. JUST KEEP IT CIVIL AND DONT TRY TO GET BANNED.

Well said, Mr. Kaiba. In fact, the very existence of this forum is a testament to the problems inherent in Robotech.com's nature and the enforcement of whatever "rules" they claim or deny to have. What's strangest of all is that this forum doesn't seem to openly acknowledge these problems and appeal to those fans who have grown tired of Robotech.com but not Robotech itself.--Maybe there aren't many of them; maybe many simply "go with the flow" instead of (like you) accepting the truth and acting upon it.You DO realize that what you're saying essentially boils down to "HERE IS A THREAD YOU SHOULD NOT POST IN", right?
Why, though, if there is a thread here upon which to speak regarding most-any worthwhile topic, would one encourage leaving to the "official" site? After all, precedent has shown that scathing words are uninhibited here but are there; forum discussions are frequently derided in sweet words by the staff of Harmony Gold; and again, that this forum was constructed as an "alternative" to these things. Is it a "superior alternative"?--That can only be left to the individual, but perhaps, does it seek, unlike Robotech.com, to become better than the status quo?
