Well said, Mr. Kaiba. In fact, the very existence of this forum is a testament to the problems inherent in Robotech.com's nature and the enforcement of whatever "rules" they claim or deny to have. What's strangest of all is that this forum doesn't seem to openly acknowledge these problems and appeal to those fans who have grown tired of Robotech.com but not Robotech itself.--Maybe there aren't many of them; maybe many simply "go with the flow" instead of (like you) accepting the truth and acting upon it.
Why, though, if there is a thread here upon which to speak regarding most-any worthwhile topic, would one encourage leaving to the "official" site? After all, precedent has shown that scathing words are uninhibited here but are there; forum discussions are frequently derided in sweet words by the staff of Harmony Gold; and again, that this forum was constructed as an "alternative" to these things. Is it a "superior alternative"?--That can only be left to the individual, but perhaps, does it seek, unlike Robotech.com, to become better than the status quo?
While I would love to go into this more, but it'll just thread-jack the topic.
I just hope that the movie (if it ever does come out) doesn't get butchered. Please, not another Dragon Ball. While I highly doubt it, I hope they have an Asian actor for one of the lead roles. At the very least Minmay.

There is a Cutie Honey tv show here, cute babes but the show is sooooo cheesy. And they have been making a lot of manga and anime into tv shows and movies here and they suck hard.
Have you watched Japanese TV in general? There's a lot of non-anime shows that are cheesy and silly. Personally I enjoy them. At least the Japanese versions are closer to the original versions than the American counterparts. The funny thing is that some of those cheesy parts are what's actually in the series. You realize how silly something looks in real life. Is there a way to make those part of the anime not look ridiculous?
Then again if Japan did a Japanese version of an American comic it would probably be much more off than the American live action versions.

I've seen quite a few manga to live action series shows and know that it is possible with a good crew to actually convert. But yea some of the aspects of the original would look "silly" should they make a direct translation. The SDF-1 being the biggest thing.
Just need some fresh creativity to make it work.

I don't think lessons would correct the huge, glaring issues with the American film industry. It's a matter of their whole business philosophy. It started with horror, when they ran out of decent ideas, they started remaking asian horror flicks, with most of the subtle, claustrophobic horror replaced by monsters with arms growing out of their tits or whatever. Now they're running out of mainstream sci-fi and action movie ideas, so they're going to do the same thing... remake a bunch of popular titles from across the pond and cock the whole thing up because "subtle" and "sophisticated" don't sell nearly as well in America as "tits" and "explosions".too bad our tv crews don't take some lessons from across the pond.

This is WARNER we're talking about... the people who managed to fuck up a sure-thing license-to-print-money like Harry Potter. Creativity is an alien thing to them these days. Remakes and sequels are a lot cheaper because they don't have to hire people who can actually write. It shows in the live-action movie's writers... we have veteran sci-fi writer Lawrence Kasdan playing second fiddle to a passel of imbeciles who have no experience writing sci-fi, including Tom Rob Smith (who only does murder mystery in Soviet-era Russian settings), Alfred Gough, and Miles Millar, who both specialize in whiny, emo drama subtlety-free superhero drama (Smallville).
The live-action movie is in the hands of a studio that has refined bastardizing sophisticated stories to a high art, a group of mediocre producers, three writers who have almost no sci-fi experience, and Tobey "With great licensing comes great emoness" Maguire.
With an outlook like that, can you really blame me for my negative views of the project?

you are forgeting some of the greatest Warners hits like the Dark Knight and the Matrix(not an anime adaptation but strongly inspired by one) , Im not agree with you about HP if you compare HP to Twilight or even Transformers, HP still a piece of art and is considered as a successful adaptation to the big screen ,with a great casting on it guys like Gary Oldman, Alain Rickman and Ralph Finnes this folks ain't Robert Patirson or Shia Labeouf if you know what im talking about, concerning to the script writers as you said theres not too much for them to do more than clean up some details like dates and stuff like that the hard work its done already the story its writen and I think that this is not gonna be just one movie and that makes the writing task easier for them, Im much concerned about whos gonna be the director of the movie than the writers
