Cool old mecha toy commercials. was created by LT-Grishnahck

The glory years, eh? Just thought these were cool. I loved the Gakken Legioss toys. I still have the blue one.

Very cool!

This one's my favorite...really captures the feel of the show:

Yeah, those were awesome too, Gubaba!

As great as Frontier is and all the cool Yamoto, Bandai..ect toys are now, there is something that I can't put my finger on that seems to make these older toys still seem superior for some reason.
There's a kind of "magic" just not there now. Probably just my age because some of those newer Mospeada toys are certainly more detailed and so on.

What I'd give to be a rich child living in Japan in 1978 - 1985!! :P

Heh. One of my friends when I was growing up was Japanese, and he had a ton of toys (Mazinger, Gaiking, Raideen, Goranger, etc.) and he'd sell them to me for fifty cents each.

He made A LOT of money off of me (well, a lot of money for a six-year-old).

But yeah...I don't collect the toys, but I've seen them and held them, and I know what you mean. There's really nothing like those old Valkyrie and Legioss toys.

On the other hand, I do collect the model kits, and having built dozens of Valkyries back in the day, I'll take the newer Hasegawa kits over a ton of the old Arii versions.

That Gundam commercial is awesome. It makes me want to buy a ton of Zakus and line them up.

NEVER SEEN THE COMMERCIALS BUT THE TOYS SURE BRING BACK MEMORIES. MY FIRST TOY FROM JAPAN INFLUENCE WAS THE HUGE GODZILLA WITH SHOOTING FIST. THEN CAME SPEED RACER AND OTHER HUGE ROBOTS.

I SEE THESE TOYS AT SWAP MEETS AND ALL BUT SURE WERE FUN DAYS BACK AS A CHILD.
