We've been waiting for this for a while. Looks like somebody beat Toynami to the punch. These transformable alpha-beta sets were on sale at Anime Expo 08. Two different vendors were selling them. I picked one up for an obscene price and checked it out.

I'd have to say they are extremely deatiled. All of the missile ports actually open and the joints are very articulated. You can pose them however you want. Transformation was a bit stiff, but I'm sure it would loosen up as you worked the joints a bit.

They were constructed of a rather light weight plastic, but not too fragile. I wouldn't give it to my daughter to play with, but a collector shouldn't have to worry about it breaking during normal use.

Here is a picture of the two seperated and transformed into battloid mode. According to the box, you can even do the linked alpha-beta combo in guardian mode, using the beta legs, but I haven't tried that configuration yet. The box also claims that you can pose the alpha in battloid mode, with the beta linked to its back. Again, I haven't tried that one yet.

For anyone who was wondering, yes that was Lisa wearing a swimsuit in the background of the picture. My wife found her and Minmei for five bucks each at one of the vendor booths. She picked them up for me. She knows me so well.

lucky! A while back i found these figures at Frank and Sons(swim suit Lisa and performing Minmei) I paid 25 for each....but i dont regret it....you came up with a deal! just to let you guys know..there also a Rick Hunter(Hikaru) another Lisa Hayes wearing her uniform(bummer) Minmei wearing her skool uniform and Minmei from Do you Remember Love(which looks amazing!!

Thats right, five bucks. They had another performing Minmay, with the only difference being the color of the spots on her skirt. Now that I think about it, I should have picked that one up too. Then I'd have one to take out and display, and one to keep in the box.

Anyway, I thought I'd give an update on the alpha-beta combo. The box is right, it will do all that stuff. Here it is with the alpha in battloid, and the beta linked to its back. Note that I opened all the alpha's missile ports. Lots of detail here. Also note the little guys in cyclone armor near the feet. I believe you can even put the un-transformed cyclone in the compartment on the back of the alpha. Another nice feature is the sword. Remember in Rand's dream they all had swords. I thought this was a nice touch.

i also have the lisa and minmay dolls, and yes they were also 25 bucks when i got them. and i did see them at AX08 and i hated my life once i found out that they were 5 bucks each at the booth. but yeah... i dont know if anyone noticed but.. WHY IS LISA IN A BATHING SUIT????

Why is Lisa in a bathing suit? Are you serious? Don't you remember when she lost to Minmei in the Miss Macross contest? Sheesh, its striaght out of the show!
