Bought this toy in the 80's and discovered a serious flaw! It only transformed into 2 modes. Neither of which was a Hover Tank. So I messed with it some years ago and figured out how to modify it so that it would transform into all 3 modes.
20 years or so later I dug it out of a box and took another look at it. Here is the result. The only "accurate" Transforming Hover Tank that I've ever seen. Including a new custom EU-11 Gun Pod which mounts in the proper spot. The elbow joints pivot, the hands rotate at the wrist, the heels on the boots in Battroid mode are more accurate to the on-screen version. Dana Sterling's helmet has a removable face mask. I still have other improvements in mind. Including the side-mounted hover jets which extend off the legs in Hover Tank mode. To see all the pictures check my gallery.

That is pretty awesome. First one I have ever seen. I had that toy as a kid and was pretty let down that it did not convert to Hover mode.

Nice job man! I never had this toy, though I considered picking it up. Southern Cross doesn't get much love in the modern toy updates, but I would like an updated hovertank that can fully transform.

Most of the toy love out there is for Macross and some for Legioss. In all fairness, I think the Southern Cross was probably the weakest of the 3 original Robotech stories, but I still enjoyed it.
