RT:TSC sales numbers was created by Richardmvela

On here and multiple other forums I have seen that RT:TSC had surprised a lot of people by selling better than expected. Some people say it sold good, other say it sold great, some say it didn't sell hardly at all, and finally HG said it sold gang busters......does anyone have what can be considered close to an actual estimate of how many units it moved?

The reason I ask is because it seems while haters hate as usual, I know a lot of fans that liked it. A large portion of them in spanish speaking markets but still it seems it did fairly well. I'm just curious because (as usual with RT) there is so much contradictory info.

Yeah, I heard the same.

For the info why don't you ask Tom Bateman, wasn't he the one that said on some forum that, 'Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles sold well enough to warrant a sequel?'

I'm sure he can give you an answer to that question? :)

I HEARD THIS BEFORE.
DID HG SAY IT IN A VIDEO? OR KEVIN SAY IT IN THE FORUMS? I THOUGHT IT WAS MENTION IN THE FORUMS BY A SOMEONE BUT NOT HG IN A PANEL. ANYONE REMEMBER?

I REMEMBER THEM SAYING DOING EXTREMELY WELL THOUGHT.

Same here. That is why I am looking for an estimate somewhere in the vicinity of the truth. I know that many Spanish speaking fans seemed to love it however the availability of a Spanish dub (regardless of region I.E. Latin America, Mexico, Castillan) is something I am not aware of. SO hence, I ask. Also it seems people in AUS seemed to like it and no idea what China thinks of it...so yeah...just curious.

Hey, Answerman!

....... ADV spent a fortune remastering and re-releasing the original series, and its sales ranged from mediocre to terrible. Yet Robotech still sells gangbusters. It's a cold, cold world out there.

I THINK PEOPLE JUST PICKED IT UP AND ROLLED WITH IT.

So Macross DVDs didn't seel well but Robotech did. I can understand that, if only because people are more familiar with Robotech than the original Macross. Yes I know not everyone is but it makes sense as most people recognize Voltron here but no Beast King Go Lion.

YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER AS WELL THAT NOT MUCH MACROSS COMES OUT OF JAPAN.

NOW IF THEY HAD A LICENSED IT OUT TO A DISTRIBUTOR MAYBE IT WOULD BE DIFFERENT. CONSIDERING YOU FIND ROBOTECH MORE ON WAL MART AND OTHER STORES THAN MACROSS.

Not to mention that most people who want to see Macross just pirate it... or focus on the sequels, really.

Plus, wasn't DYRL already floating around by the time they ADV released the original series on DVD?
