Both series had strong rating increases the following week.
Transformers Prime is reaching over 1 million viewers each week.
Each week the first airing of Power Rangers Samurai is reaching around 3 millions viewers. Repeat viewings during the week are drawing similar viewer numbers.
Strawberry Shortcake is another franchise from the 80's, they had a series of tv specials and a huge product line, that is back on tv now.
This 80's revival trend is an excellent strategy, these are action filled colorful shows that will entertain young children while being nostalgic for their parents who likely watched them 20 something years ago.

Wow, the 80's revival just keeps picking up more and more steam
Transformers
G.I. Joe
Power Rangers
Thundercats
Voltron
TMNT
My Little Pony
Smurfs
Strawberry Shortcake
Pound Puppies
And maybe Masters of the Universe -- there's the clasic toy line on mattycollector.com, and recently Mattel and THQ signed a game deal which includes the rights to MOTU. BTW,what's the current status of the Greyskull: Masters of the Universe movie?
Should we count Gatchaman, since its not exactly Battle of the Planets?

I just have a hard time believing there will be new animation anytime soon. HG has had so many false starts and delays, and there has been the lull since SC. With all the noise Tommy and Kev are making, there almost has to be some new animation within the next couple of years or else they will loose all credibility. Still, I guess it won't seem real to me until they actually release some production designs or sample animation.Hey you didn't include Robotech Flashback on your list.

But they've already shown clips of the new animation to dozens of fans at one convention so far with many more opportunities coming up. Most importantly, something has to be coming out cause Kevin says so! Hi Kev!ps99041 wrote:

The thread Voltron Force Voice Cast Revealed! profiles the voice actors for the lead characters. It also refers to imdb for a complete voice cast list.Jeremy - Admin/Producer - Voltron Force 12 November 2010
Ha that was quick. Yeah big question I'll do my best. First off our writer Todd Garfield has done a tremendous job of shaking things up a bit but still keeping what made Voltron great so all kudos go to him.
After playing with the idea of everything from a reboot, "re imagining" or a "Voltron Academy" of sorts, we arrived (thanks to our boss Ted Koplar) at the idea of keeping the great relationship the audience has with our core characters who we all know and love, but using 3 new recruits to serve as a "relatable point of entry" for those fans just joining us. This way the show feels fresh and these characters serve as an introduction to this incredible world of Voltron.
It's tough sometimes even for me, but remember we are making this show for kids, and kids today see a Voltron toy or show clip and call it a Transformer or a Power Ranger. It's just a fact. The mission of the show is to help change that and differentiate Voltron as a brand and show your children why we all fell in love with the show in the first place. We'l need your help to educate the children on the true Defender!
But I'm very happy to report the show is turning out to be an incredible "co-viewing" chance where you can sit down with your kids and enjoy it as a classic or new fan. Really, believe me, I would consider myself a pretty hardcore Voltron fan and I LOVE the writing, designs, everything going into it. I'm sure we'll have some that dont agree with every choice, but I'm sure we can all agree new Voltron is a good thing!
But specific to your question GrantB, I would say the series is "based" on the original and set several years after the events of Lion Force Voltron and starts with the question: "What happens after the Universe has been Defended?"
While our new cadets are in their early teens our classic team is just a little bit older, but still in a cool big brother/sister way. Hard to say... how old was the team in the original? Wink
Arus is in of course but the whole Galaxy Alliance is in a bit of a mess as sometimes in seemingly times of peace there are opportunities for power-hungry individuals to take control...
Yes, Earth is the head of the GA and has a more prominent role. We will finally see Voltron fighting on a somewhat "hyper modern" Earth!
Mark Hildreth ... King Lotor (2011)
Ty Olsson ... Hunk (2011)
Garry Chalk ... Sky Marshall Wade / Manset (2011)
Andrew Francis ... Lance (2011)
Shannon Chan-Kent ... Larmina (2011)
Ashleigh Ball ... Allura (2011)
Sam Vincent ... Pidge (2011)
Tabitha St. Germain ... Kala (2011)
Giles Panton ... Keith (2011)
Doron Bell ... Vince (2011)

I noticed Jason Netter is an executive producer, maybe he's too busy helping revive Voltron to push the RLAM at WB
