That would get rid of Robotech Remastered everywhere, and would've probably cut a lot out of the profits Robotech has had over the last several years, thus, questioning if Shadow Chronicles would've even been made.

While I'm not into Hentai and all that, I don't think this would've ever passed, simply due to the severity of conservatism that is in it. Even if this did pass, I really don't see where it would change the Macross Franchise in anyway as far as what has recently come out. Since there was such a big deal made of nothing in the Macross the First Manga, I'm pretty sure this article was brought up as some sort of response for that. Trying to fit this square into a round hole simply doesn't appear to match there.

As this is just a proposal for for a law, and seemingly one that didn't even pass, seems much ado about nothing.

As a Robotech fan, it's kinda embarrassing. It just seems like such a far out stretch to prove a point that isn't even there, or valid. In court, we've dealt with issues of crime not fitting the accusation, and the citizen making the claim has no idea how to fit the idea that they're not only wasting their time, but devolving the validity of their claim to sandbox antics.

It's not a cultural thing, it's just that there's too much exposure to the many kinds of media that's pushing the edge of the moral conservative high ground. What was once taboo is seemingly close to being the norm. I believe it's having an affect on people.

My personal opinion is that there are too many sick people with a serious case of detachment from reality, hence the need for this kind of legislation. Especially from adults with a longing for a relationship with their imaginary characters.

As I said when we met up a few months ago, look at the Franco Zefferelli movie of Romeo and Juliet. A movie that gets shown often in high school classes...and yet, there's a clearly post-coital nude scene featuring two underage actors. Why not attack that for a change? Why not attack Twilight? Or Harry Potter, which has a couple of dirty jokes thrown in?

If glowing, nippleless, astral projection Ranka is so repulsive and offensive, what about these other things? What about the Annie nude scenes in the Robotech Remastered collection? If Frontier deserves to be banned, then surely the Protoculture Edition should be taken from the shelves. Why aren't you clamoring for that to happen?

The Japanese law you cite in the beginning of this thread was a PROPOSED law, one which was shot down earlier this year. It is not a law, it will never BE a law. It says nothing about Macross, Gundam Seed (which has a SEX SCENE between two underage characters, f'r cryin' out loud), Evangelion, Akira, or any other anime which may have "objectionable" material. YOU made that connection in your head, and you're acting like it's part of the law.

I shouldn't have to explain this to you. It should be clear to anyone with an ounce of common sense. Since I know that you DO have common sense, I can only assume you're doing it out of some strange desire to put Macross fans on the defensive.

Which is fine, if that's how you get your kicks. But to bring a real and serious issue like children pornography into the mix is irresponsible, and a trivializing of the problem.

BESIDES THE BAD AUDIO, ONE OF THE PROBLEMS WERE THE EXTRAS. SOME STUFF I THINK SHOULD STILL HAVE BEEN KEPT OUT OR NOT NEEDED. ROY FLYBY WAS COOL. BUT THE BATH SCENES TO ME WAS JUST EXTRAS NOT NEEDED.

IT'S THEIR CONSUMER CHOICE. AND THERE IS ALREADY A STRICT LEGISLATION HERE IN THE STATES THAT DEAL WITH THINGS LIKE THAT. MUCH MORE STRICTER WITH WHAT IS IN JAPAN.
