Writer Simon Furman offered up all potential characters from the various Robotech storylines to be available for the new writer to chose from in order to craft the new series. For example, Admiral Global may end up leading a team of Scott Bernard, Dana Sterling, Max Sterling, Rick Hunter, and Karl Riber.
I feel the wedding of Rick and Lisa was fan service as their romance was really not featured in the series.
