Yeah i was going through my DVDs and i pulled out my E2 Disc and for some reason put it in. Well it's been a LONG LONG time since i watched the Interview with Carl Macek on there but it sent my mind on such a nostalgic trip I just had to jump on here and write.
So much has changed since 86'. Lots of stuff did and didn't happen. The Lost Robotech Movie is mentioned as well as some short animation clips. They talk about how different the story was at the time compared to contemorary Cartoons of the time. The Original Robotech series was truely a landmark project both in animation and in story telling. My Fionce has become obsessed with anime and how deep the stories are. I tell her and i'm convinced of it RT was one of the first and she ought to take a look at it.
Looking at the original series from story lines to the art work, I am still amazed today as much as i was when I was 5.
Carl said in the interview the target audience was 10-20 years old. Today i think we can say the demographics are conciderably extended.
The mark of a legend is that long after the actual events the stories tend to grow and become larger then life. Robotech has the rare distinction of Becoming Legend years before the events depicted take place.

The other day i was trying to comfort someone who will remain un-named LOL that Anime isn't just for kids (Trix is!) cause this person was feeling ashamed to be getting so into a particular anime (sadly not RT). From the complex stories to the wilingness of the creators to actually let lead characters die and or suffer, these were not exclusive to kids Television. This was ment to apply to all anime today and it was soo funny to hear Carl Say the same exact things about RT back in 86'. But I have to laugh cause no way could he or anyone else have forseen just HOW popular it would become or how much older the audience would get. Very few people out-grow Anime and NO ONE i know that loved the original RT series has out-grown it. I'm 25 years old and i'm still a hard core fan of my original series!
PS. please don't feel the need to point out that i'm still a kid cause i know it LOL!!

I'm not ashamed to say in the late 70's YAMATO made me ball like a baby... But I was under 10 then so it wasn't hard to do that.
