Robotech & Amelia Earhart was created by JaesonK
For those of you that attended any of our Macross panels, you are aware of the many connections we drew between Amelia Earhart and Miriya Parina. Macross creators are aviation history buffs and a lot of that went into Macross and it's characters. Carl Macek also had a strong interest in this early history.
Part of our research into aviation history includes being members of various aviation groups, one being TIGHAR. TIGHAR is The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery, a non-profit foundation dedicated to promoting responsible aviation archaeology and historic preservation.

TIGHAR believes there is a strong chance that Amelia Earhart & Fred Noonan did not crash & sink over the open sea during their around the globe flight in 1937 but may actually have landed and survived on a small island (Nikumaroro Island, known as Gardner Island in 1937) to the south of their original destination.
The Discovery Channel documentary about TIGHAR’s recently completed expedition to find Amelia Earhart's Lockheed Electra airs Sunday, August 19, 10 p.m. Eastern and Pacific Time. An underwater debris field has been found that could be wreckage from Earhart's Lockheed Electra.
