I believe the anime production of Koisento is pointing towards the direction that most animation studios will eventually adopt, as computers become even more powerful and cheaper to operate. The independent producer is slowly acquiring the tools to match the quality of larger studios.

Software algorithms are also constantly improving which will create the look of 3D cel shaded animation to become more inline with the best of traditional 2D anime.

It's just a matter of time, but you should see it happen within our lifetime when you cannot distinguished between the two.
