Google Ordered to Hand Over YouTube User Info

A federal judge has ordered Google to turn over information about every user who has ever watched a video on YouTube. The ruling came as part of a lawsuit brought by Viacom over the posting of copyrighted material on YouTube. Google is resisting the request, saying it would allow Viacom to "likely be able to determine the viewing and video uploading habits of YouTube's users." The Electronic Frontier Foundation called the judgment "a set-back to privacy rights."

I really hate Viacom, and they just keep getting dumber and dumber every day. Why do they care who watches the videos? Arent they more upset over who is uploading them?
I heard about this on the deviantart forum, and I signed a petition, because I feel this is just stupid.
Viacom are nothing more than a bunch of media nazis, I mean you can't even upload a 30 second clip from one of their shows.

They never cease to amaze me... what's next? targetting everyone who says something negative about them? Cause as stupid as they are, I could see that happening.

Passionate aren't we? Cool beans! Yeah, they are Media Nazis. I hope Google wins this. Even if they are a monopoly of sorts.

You are gonna sue people not for uploading the content but for ever watching it? that is a load of horse S%#@. They had better not win. That Judge was prolly an old fart who has no right ruleing on a subject he is so unfamiliar with. *throws an abacus at said judge*
