Robotech Movie Back Online With Hollywood Gang, ‘300’ Scribe Michael Gordon

EXCLUSIVE: The 80s anime series Robotech has been a fascination of filmmakers from Tobey Maguire to Akiva Goldsman, Joby Harold, Gough & Millar, and Lawrence Kasdan. All have tried to adapt the series for the big screen. Stepping up to hopefully get it done is Warner Bros-based producers Hollywood Gang, with Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton producing and 300 and G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra scribe Michael Gordon set to write. They are already eyeing a filmmaker to steer that development and I’m told that Andy Muschietti is the guy they covet. In the 1980s, Robotech, which was brought to America by Frank Agrama and Harmony Gold, was the TV show which introduced a generation of American kids to the revolutionary visual style and open ended storytelling of anime.

'Mama' Director Tapped for Sony's 'Shadow of the Colossus' Video Game Adaptation

Andres (Andy) Muschietti, the Spanish director behind the horror hit Mama, is jumping into the tentpole world with Shadow of the Colossus, Sony’s big-budget adaptation of the PlayStation video game.

Muschietti’s sister and producing partner, Barbara Muschietti, is boarding the project and will produce alongside Kevin Misher, who produces through his Misher Films banner.

The director boarding kickstarts the video game adaptation, which has been brewing at Sony since 2009. It originally had Justin Marks (The Jungle Book) working on the script and in 2012 was being developed as a vehicle for Chronicle director Josh Trank.




Seth Lochhead, who co-penned Joe Wright’s Saoirse Ronan action thriller Hanna, is writing the screenplay, with Muschietti supervising.

The game’s story centers on a young man named Wander, who, riding his trusty steed Argo, travels a world defeating 16 colossal beings in order to resurrect his lost love, a girl named Mono.

Colossus was named best game at the sixth annual Game Developer’s Choice Awards and earned IGN awards for best adventure game and best artistic design. The game has sold more than 2.7 million copies worldwide.

Michael De Luca and Andrea Giannetti will oversee the project for the studio.

Muschietti is repped by WME and Ziffren Brittenham.
