Ooooh, yes! He's got the look for sure. Just give me man some hair dye like you said and practice the accent.

Only problem is that he is engraved in my brain as a badass cowboy man.

I'll have to disagree, on both actually. Sam Elliot has the "frame" and just needs the hair dye. But he is too much of a cowboy and doubt he would be into anything like that.

Tom Selleck, is getting a bit thicker these days and while he can sure rock a cigar, not sure about a pipe. His charisma is not Henry Glovalish. At least to me.

I'd definitely have to give it to Sam Elliot over Selleck. Selleck is too strong/forward of a character. The brooding, quiet, intellectual suits Sam MUCH better. Excellent choice.

It would also work nicely if you put the mayor of Macross as Paul Giamatti...I'd love to see the two work together. The boisterous, loud, questionably-intelligent mayor and the brooding war veteran...
