Am I the only one who's not looking forward to was created by flashmartin

Am I the only one who's not looking forward to the live action version? I mean, seriously, look at all the cartoons that have been turned into live action features. What do we have? Transformers, Speed Racer, G.I. Joe, and now they're gonna screw up RT too. I do not like this at all.

Well hello there clone! I kid, in all seriousness this is exactly what I said not too long ago.
None of the cartoon to live action movies have been successful.
I'm still waiting for someone to name one........
and no Scooby Doo doesn't count, that was a flop too.

NO you're not the only one. Any movie that gets made in HOLLYWOOD gets the HOLLYWOODIZATION treatment. Just like Dragon Ball. Man that was horrible!

1) Batman, started as a comic, then became a cartoon with a successful TV series in the 60's and ended up being a highly successful film franchise starting in the late 80's with a new fresh reboot that started with Batman Begins and the recent Batman Dark Knight.

2) Spiderman, also started as a comic, then became a cartoon and has so far three successful movies with a fresh new reboot for the next one.

3) Superman, also started as a comic, then became a cartoon and had some good early movies and a recent reboot film with mixed results but all the TV series adaptions have been extremely successful. (Lois and Clark, Smallville)

4) X-Men, started as a comic, then became a successful cartoon series which eventually had its turn in the trilogy of film features.

5) Transformers, started as a series of cartoons with later comic adaption. Then became a successful film franchise with a third film in production.

Some comic/cartoon adaptions not mentioned here of course are a hit and miss, but Robotech differs as itself as an epic story would have enough mythos and background to add enough depth screenplay wise to make it an engaging enough to the audience that it would easily translate well onto the silver screen.

I have no worries :)

You do know Robotech first started off as a comic!

Remember the Robotech Defenders comic? ;)

Well...if you're going to go THAT route, then no, it didn't start as a comic. It started as a line of plastic model kits.

And I defy you to name any good movie ever based on a line of model kits.

I forgot about Dragonball. Yeah, that was another abomination. Ugh.

That wasn't the same Robotech universe we know, that was something completely different and it was lame.
As Gubaba said it was to sell model kits, so good plot or whatever didn't matter.

Apologies for the reminder. A buddy told me that they were re-making it though. Yet I still hold my original protest and vow to never watch the first version.

Mav,

The point here is not that Robotech lacks the "epic story" that "would have enough mythos and background to add enough depth screenplay wise to make it an engaging enough to the audience that it would easily translate well onto the silver screen." We're simply saying that Hollywood usually has a tendency to butcher original stories at the expense of what sells.

Sure there are some exceptions, but more often than not the fanboys/fangirls are left disappointed.
