by the fans for the fans

I ASKED CESAR TO SEND ME SOMETHING TO SHOW AT COMIC CON FOR HIM. HE IS PREPARING SOMETHING. BUT THE SHORT IS NOT READY. SO NO RELEASE DATE.

They should've had this at the panel as it's kind of the only thing going on with the franchise.

Never said it was part of the franchise. But it's still franchise related otherwise it shouldn't be a Robotech live action fan short. And what's worse is that we've seen more from this project than any project that IS part of the franchise.

If the release they have to sign or have already signed in order to release the short is anything like the one HG uses for fan fiction and art then HG will eventually own that short outright with no credit or compensation and can legally make it part of the Robo-Tech franchise. So for all intents and purposes it will be part of the franchise unless HG C&D's it.

How many existing fan shorts/movies have signed releases with HG so they can legally display them online and in public? IIRC Tommy said they were working on a way that fan movies could be uploaded and displayed on rt.com. Until this system is in place and fans are made aware that they can submit shorts/movies to the official site isn't HG unintentionally playing favorites, like when Tommy acknowledged Skull/Knights on a spanish podcast and you posted on this site that he had given their production his approval. I think this would be a great opportunity for HG to embrace this neglected area of fan expression, promoting a fan short that's under production and would one day, hopefully not too far away, be on rt.com with other fan works.

DEPENDS. SINCE THERE IS NO SYSTEM IN PLACE, FANS RESORT TO YOUTUBE. THOSE THAT FOLLOW HG OR KNOW HOW THINGS WORK WILL ASK HG FOR PERMISSION. WELL, THOSE THAT KNOW HOW TOO ANYWAY. TOMMY KNOWS OF MANY OTHERS AND FANS ALSO HAVE COME UP TO HG THEMSELVES AT CONS AND EVEN AT COMIC CON ROBOTECHX BOOTH TO TALK ABOUT THEIR FANDOM WORKS.

EVENTUALLY THEY WILL. SOMEDAY. BUT MAYBE THAT'S WHERE FANDOMS SITES COME INTO PLAY AS WELL. WE SEEN PROMOTIONS OF FANDOM WORKS HERE TOO. IN A WAY... WE ARE FILLING IN THAT VOID.
