MPC Cyclone Review was created by MGREXX
I just got my new Toynami 1/10 scale MPC cyclone last night and was pleasently surprised.....mostly. I was really worried about the quality, since the recent MPC Alpha (maya) fiasco is still fresh in all of our minds. Yet. The quality, as I am pleased to announce, is there.
Box:
The usual MPC box is still the same, albeit taller.
Scott Figure:
Good articulation and decent facial resemblance. The cloth is a nice touch and overall figure feels sturdy and the armor is very flexible and does not feel static. My only gripe is the belt armor piece is tied around his waist in a "packaging" fashion and feels flimsy. It would also have been nice if the helmet came off instead of swapping heads but it's no biggie.
Cyclone
The bike has a lot of detail on it and feels good, although not as sturdy as I would have liked. When touching it, the front wheel missle pods are a little to loose and tend to swivel at the slighest touch. The fact that the missles do not come out is a bummer. The seat also tends to collapse if the slighest force is applied to that area. The tires are rubber but not as high quality or textured as I would have liked. On the plus side, the proto cell pod inside the bike, along with shock absorber, engine detail, throttle switches, HUD display and kickstand are nice touches. I would have liked for the engine to be die-cast but it still looks good. I was a bit shocked when I did not see the targeting shoulder display on the box or the manual..........but it's there!!!!!
Accesories:
The accesories are a surprising addition. You get a rack with 3 extra proto cells, two versions of the gallant in pistol in stand-alone and with added attachments versions. I would have preferred to be able to assemble it but it's still nice. You also get the rifle and a few other features, including a display case that resembles a cyclone riders quarters where everything can be put away (including the cyclone) after a long day of killing invid.
All in all, I like this MPC but still feel that the $199.00 price is still a bit too much. When compared to the original MOSPEADA toy, this is a huge improvement and an enjoyable addition to my MPC collection.
