first one to post here hehehe... was created by Last_Valk_Standing

I have been hearing alot of junk about the novels of late. But this year my sister got me the complet novel set (instead of the Remastered DVD likei wanted) Well right now i'm almost done with BattleCry and i have to say that personally i'm impressed. Yeah the Authors did take some liberties as far as dialouge but I think it adds to the story very well. I look at it as no different then a typical novel to Television adaptation except this one goes in the opposite direction. :D

What do you guys think?

I'm in the same boat, but without having read the novels at all. I've been wanting to read them to see what all this "junk" talk is all about.

I think they are really good (so far LMAO!). The folks who trash talk about them seem to be either Series or comic junkies who have closed their minds to any challenge to the "cannon" of the story.

If you get the opportunity I'd say read them and decide for yourself. Personally i'm hankering for some more Robotech and this was just what i needed. The story is great the details are well placed.

You know something that the novels did that i do really like was they developed the characters more. Rick in the show seems just way way too immature until nearly the last episode of the first saga. I couldn't stand him sometimes. In the Novel he starts off very much the same but he shows maturity much faster and his character is soo much better for it.

Max also was improved like in the White Dragon when Kyle comes home. It makes him seem so much more complex then the show displays. Overall i really like what the novels have done with them.

I just finished the first book and Roy's death. I'm unsure of how i feel about the changes made in this aspect of the story. It just doesn't seem as tragic as the show.

I've been thinking more and more about Roy's death in the book vs the way he dies in the show and i think the show gives him more of a legendary hero status then the book. The book while seeming more realistic in how he dies kinda tarnishes his image for me as the untouchable figther pilot.

It reminds me of how legends are inreal life. You have the actual story of what happend and then the story that gets passed down by word of mouth. One becomes larger then life and elevates the hero's status while the truth is cold and not so pretty.

Hey, I enjoy the novels too! You're right, novels are always different from the TV/movies. So, I'm surprised that Haters will dismiss the novels.
