McKeever also said that the next animated film is "on hiatus" because WB doesn't want what HG is making to get in the way of the live-action. So the live-action has to come first before we see The Shadow

there is a tendency by some to assume that since were quiet it must mean Shadow Rising is cancelled or Robotech is doomed I can assure it is NOT the case.

so wait, some of what i'm getting here is that the animated feature is on hold till after the LAM comes out and the rest is that it is on hold until the RLAM is further into production so that they can be developed side by side. I'm gonna go lay down, I'm gettin dizzy.

The second part is probably true. We will confirm in Comic Con or next convention. We'll sure drill HG there haha.

I don't think so. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty certain that is not the case. I know for a fact that although Funimation and WB have the rights to license or produce Robotech projects, HG can still produce whatever they want to make internally. Trust me on that one. I think HG is doing this as a favor to WB, not because they have to.
I recently talked with Tommy, and he made it sound like the work load with all the new Robotech production that is going on is just enormous, and that is having an impact on Rising. But Kevin's comments sure seems like HG is delaying Rising in deference to WB. I have a theory...
Because no script or production work has been done yet on the Live Action movie, they can still go in any direction with it, even Live Action Rising. I personally don't think that has any real chance of happening, but right now WB probably wants to keep all the options open until they make a final decision. So putting animated Rising on "hiatus" makes sense until they know that the two won't conflict.
This is just my theory, but I think it is pretty likely.

I'm in agreement here. This is a good sign i suppose. I'm hopeing this indicates that WB is gonna put their all into this film.

On my show tonight, Kevin just clarified matters. What he said was referring to the animation process as being "on hiatus," using the term in the industry sense of "not active right now because it's waiting on something else" as opposed to the consumer sense of "indefinitely cancelled." In retrospect, he felt he should have looked for a better word. Kevin and Tommy want to emphasize that Shadow Rising itself is still under development at HG, it has not been put on hiatus, and it will be coordinated with Warner Brothers so as to be as beneficial as possible to both films. His answer was misinterpreted as referring to the entire show's production process, when it was not meant to at all.
