Tim Eldred: Re:Star Blazers - Space Battleship Yamato 2 Days, 12 Hours ago
Hey all- just registered here, totally new to the site and the chat group.
I'm the guy who researches and writes (and draws) everything at starblazers.com, so I'm very grateful to read your kind words about my work. Thanks!!
I can answer most if not all of your questions about the show or the Voyager DVDs, so fire away!
Do you guys even realize who you're talking to???
This is the
Mr Tim Eldred, Sir, in the words of Garth and Wayne:
YOU ARE A LEGEND AND A GOD! WE ARE NOT WORTHY! WE ARE NOT WORTHY!
Sir, I am a huge fan of yours! I've got all these issues which I read that you've written and drawn including Robotech, Eternity's Triple Action, Lensman, Captain Harlock, Broid and so many others! Your layouts, inking and lettering just blows me away!
Sorry if this is off-topic, people but I can't help myself.
Sir, I hope you can return to Robotech comics someday! Or even better take over the reins as Creative Director over at Harmony Gold because Robotech really REALLY needs someone who is experienced and knows how to get the job done! With your credentials, Mr Eldred, that shouldn't be a problem!
Note: Mr Eldred has worked for and is still working for Sony(?) and is working currently at WB as a storyboard artist. Correct me if this info is wrong, sir...

I think he would skip no 3...
A more appropriate question would be:
What would you have done differently storywise if Shadow Chronicles didn't exist?

Actually, I didn't know that...his name rang a bell, but I figured I just saw it on the Star Blazers site. I never read any Robotech comics beyond the ones from Comico, anyway (and I never even read all of those...I dropped them at around issue six or seven).YEAH, I KNOW WHO HE IS JUST NEVER MET HIM.

But yeah...I definitely think Harmony Gold should hire Mr. Eldred to work over Robotech.com. As I said, starbalzers.com is an embarrassment of riches. Seeing RT.com "fleshed out" in such detail would make it a real joy.
And Memo, I have a question for YOU: Ever watch any movies about gladiators?

While I did enjoy my stint on the Eternity Comics for a while, it did go a bit longer than I wanted it to and I needed to extricate myself to pursue other things. I was never a HUGE Robotech fan; I liked Macross and always thought Mospeada was cool, but there was other stuff I liked more and I wanted to shoot for that instead. And I hit the target pretty solidly with Star Blazers, Armored Trooper Votoms, and my own graphic novel Grease Monkey. (See it at www.greasemonkeybook.com )
If HG were to call upon me, I honestly don't think I could take them up on it. Starblazers.com is pretty much a full time job and drawing animation storyboards is my other full time job. Don't have time for much else. Rather, what I would hope is that what I do at starblazers.com inspires others to step up to the plate with their own passion. Believe me, if I didn't have it to work on, I'd immediately devote all that energy to a new site that examined ALL my favorite shows to that degree. And perhaps someday I will.
Can't answer your questions about Shadow Chronicles or anything else that's happened in the last decade or so; I stopped following Robotech about the same time I finished Invid War.
