WE KNOW WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT SIZE.
BUT COULD NOT THE SAME CREATORS BE WRONG IN SIZE COMPARISON?
THROW OUT A NUMBER, NO ONE CARES, AND IF THEY DO WE BLAME IT ON THE ARTIST.
WE LOOK AT IT LATER AND TALK ABOUT HOW ARTIST ARE WRONG AND DIRECTORS ARE RIGHT AND BLAME GAME AND ALL..
BUT IN ONE OF THE PICS, SIDE FEW WITH CITY, I THINK "OOOKAY"
WHAT CANON SAYS.
BUT IF YOU SIZE THE BUILDINGS DOWN, THOSE BUILDINGS WILL TURN OUT ACTUALLY ANTHILLS IN SIZE. OK, NOT ANT HILLS, BUT YOU GET THE MEANING. EVEN IN RT.COM CANON, YES, THEY SIZE TEH SDF-1 AND A JET.
Ship Name/Type: SDF-1 Macross
Length:1210m
Ship Name/Type: Empire State Building
Height:442m
SURE LOOKS LIKE THAT THING IS PARKED IN LEGOLAND
JUST A THOUGHT.

No, just Bendo trying to make everyone think he knows more than the show's creators. Is this a trick question...?

Well, to be ruthlessly accurate the official figures for the dimensions of the SDF-1 Macross as she appeared in Super Dimension Fortress Macross are:1200 meters. Everyone says so, including the guy who designed the damn thing.
Length: 1,210 meters (.752 miles)
Width: 496 meters (.308 miles)
Height: 312 meters (.194 miles)
Considering that the stated height of the SDF-1 Macross is only a few meters shorter than the Eiffel Tower (324m) and wider than the length of the longest ship ever built (the freighter Knock Nevis, at 458.45m), and the visuals support that the ship just absolutely dwarfs the city that was built around it on South Ataria Island, I see no real reason to question the official 1,210m length of the ship (which is, to give you a feeling for the scale, a little more than the length of 11 regulation football fields laid end-to-end, or slightly more than 3.5x the length of the USS Enterprise (CVN-65)).
Honestly, there's no question of the ship's scale once it has the Daedalus and Prometheus attached, as both ships are IMMENSE in their own right, and they're still absolutely dwarfed by the SDF-1 Macross.

Not sure what you're getting at here... the SDF-1 Macross is only slightly shorter than the Eiffel Tower, and the city on South Ataria Island seems to top out at buildings of ~5-6 stories tall with few exceptions. Even if we assumed that those buildings had internal structure similar to a skyscraper (which adds an estimated 2 feet or so to each floor compared to a smaller concrete building) the buildings are still only about 30m tall, less than 1/10th the height of the SDF-1 Macross.BUT IF YOU SIZE THE BUILDINGS DOWN, THOSE BUILDINGS WILL TURN OUT ACTUALLY ANTHILLS IN SIZE. OK, NOT ANT HILLS, BUT YOU GET THE MEANING.
(Used for comparison, the Empire State Building's per-floor height of 13.22ft/4.03m, incl. under-floor structural steel support members. The per-floor height of a concrete/rebar building will be closer to 9.5ft/2.9m, so I'm giving an extremely generous estimate)
So once again, the scale of the ship to its surroundings does nothing but support the idea that it's 3/4 of a mile long.

In addition, the SDF-1 is not resting on the ground, but on the rather massive scaffolding underneath it. Which probably adds a number of stories to its height.MEMO1DOMINION wrote:

WELL, I DO SEE SOME OTHER PICS AND THE BUILDINGS CAN PASS UP TO 10 STORIES. TALLEST ONES JUST ABOUT 15 OR 16. STRUCTURE WOULD BE THE SAME AS WE NOTICE WHEN (THIS IS MACROSS BUT NOT GOOD WITH MACROSS NAMES) RICK CAN TAKE THE BATTLOID THROUGH MINMEIS HOUSE. ROOMS LOOKED DECENT ENOUGH AND INCLUDING NORMAL STRUCTURE.Not sure what you're getting at here... the SDF-1 Macross is only slightly shorter than the Eiffel Tower, and the city on South Ataria Island seems to top out at buildings of ~5-6 stories tall with few exceptions.
