lol,, plus i have to wait another year to get a weeks vacation again

now i have 2 days as of january, the new vacation goes from jan-dec one week vacation,it was from oct to to oct.
my wife tells alot of jobs are doing that just to stay a float.

There's a lot of tricks up their sleeves. I used to drive truck for Werner Enterprises. They put ads in the newspapers in every major city, saying that they are hiring 300 new drivers in your area! Well what they're doing is hiring student drivers, who get paid minimum wage, and drive with a trainer, who gets mileage pay. (You could already have your Class A CDL but they consider you a student because you are "new to them"). Basically the most profitable dedicated routes get trainers+students, because they are essentially doubling the rate of transport without having to hire a second full-time driver. Once the 300 student driver training hours are over, they send the student home and replace them with another student, and the cycle continues.

I was lucky enough to get "hired", "full time". That meant I spent days, even weeks, sitting around Laredo Texas while student drivers got all the jobs. Terminals and truck stops were so full of drivers sitting around waiting for work that often you couldn't even find a place to park your truck, the places were jam-packed. There's even an ongoing lawsuit that everyone who had been employed by Werner is automatically a part of (unless they opt out) alledging that we were making less than minimum wage due to all the sitting around we were doing.

It's been a few years and it's still not resolved, so of course they are fighting it with like all the best lawyers and stuff.

As for me, I came back and got a job at my local Pizza Hut, was home every night and made more money than I did as a trucker. ROFL.

BTW I will never eat Pizza Hut again.
